Most break-ins take 30 seconds. We find the weak points before they do.
The weak points that make a home an easy target are usually simple — a side gate, a sliding window, a dark path, an exposed garage. We find them and close them properly, so yours stops being the easy one on the street.

We make your home the one they skip.
Most homes don't need more subscriptions, apps or complicated tech — they need the obvious gaps closed: a weak side gate, an exposed garage, a dark side path, an unlocked mailbox or meter box, parcels left visible from the street, or windows that are easy to test. We find them and close them, starting with the one that matters most.
Security doors & window screens
Anti-theft doors and screens that look ordinary but hold like a locked gate — leave them open for the breeze, without worry and stay locked up tight.
Sliding door & window locks
The easiest way into most homes: a sliding door lifted off its track in seconds. We fit track and window locks that stop it dead — plus lockable winders for awning windows so they can stay open for air.
Garage overnight lockout
The door most people forget to lock. We secure the garage door and your car — closing the quiet route straight into your home as well as your valued vehicle.
Side gates
The side gate is the quietest way to your back door, out of sight of the street. Keyed latches, drop bolts — or keyless code locks for family and trades — so no one wanders down unnoticed.
Fence extensions & anti-climb (possum) spikes
A low fence is an invitation. We can raise it or top it with anti-climb spikes — hard to get over, easy to walk past, and completely possum-safe.
Sensor flood lighting
Nothing sends someone off faster than being lit up. Hardwired sensor floodlights over dark paths, driveways and blind spots — fitted by our licensed electrician partner, one point of contact (with optional cameras).
Secure heavy-duty sheds
Tools, bikes and ladders left exposed get stolen — or used against you. Australian-made heavy-duty tool sheds, supplied and installed, sized for side paths and backyards.
Lockable mail & parcel boxes
Your mailbox is your identity. Lockable mail and parcel boxes keep bank letters, new cards and deliveries out of reach — and off the street.
Defensive landscaping
Security that looks like a garden. Prickly planting and solid concrete planter boxes close off soft, exposed frontage — designed and installed with our landscaping partner.
Lockable meter box upgrade
One flick of the main switch kills your alarm, cameras and sensor lights — and on most homes, the meter box sits unlocked on an outside wall, reachable from the street. We fit a lockable clasp keyed to the Victorian Power Industry (VPI) system, so only you and your power company can open it. Supplied and installed with any visit.
Vehicle theft deterrents
While we're in your driveway, we can sort the other soft target — your car. Keyless and OBD-port theft is rife across the south-east. A complete deterrent pack — garage night lock-out, OBD-port lock, steering wheel lock, Faraday key pouches and anti-theft plate screws — fitted and set up in one go. Just ask on the day.
We can also supply wireless video cameras, home safes (from $1,045) and lockboxes on request — supply only.
You'll always see the number first.
Plenty of what we find costs nothing — it's a latch, a habit, a light left on. When there's work worth doing, you get a clear price up front, and you're free to do it yourself, have us do it, or leave it. No call-out fee, no surprise bills — and no deposits on standard work: you pay when the job's done. Made-to-order items are confirmed with a 50% deposit, balance on completion.
We look at your home differently.
Not like a homeowner. Like someone looking for the quickest, quietest, lowest-effort way in.
The weak points we check first.
A practical security check, clear recommendations, and where useful, a quote for simple physical upgrades.
Doors, windows & sliding tracks
Front and back doors, sliding doors, screen doors and accessible windows — the points most break-ins actually go through.
Side gates, fences & dark spots
The quiet way in: side paths, gate latches, low or climbable fences, exposed meter boxes, and the unlit corners no one watches.
Garage, driveway & vehicle
Garage remotes and routines, internal access doors — plus keyless and OBD-port car theft right off your driveway.
Mail, parcels & ID exposure
Mailbox condition, parcels left in street view, and the documents that quietly hand someone your identity.
Your fix-first rundown
What to close first, what can wait — and a clear itemised quote for anything worth doing. The quote is yours to sit on.
Break-ins kept getting closer. So I started Safehaus.
I'm Keith. Over the last few years I've watched break-ins climb across Melbourne's east and south-east — friends, neighbours, streets I know well. And almost every time, what people got sold was an alarm or a camera, when the real problem was the simple physical gaps that let someone in to begin with.
For years I worked as an auditor — a chartered accountant paid to find the weak points everyone else had already signed off on. It's the same eye I bring to your home: where the easy way in is, what's been overlooked, what someone would test first. I've since renovated enough properties to know exactly where homes are soft. So you get both — an auditor's eye for the gap, a renovator's feel for how a home is actually built, and a straight answer on what will genuinely make yours safer.
Real jobs, real homes.
A few of the homes we've made harder to break into across Melbourne's east & south-east.

Safehaus installed fence extensions and security/possum spikes at our property. Good communication, neat work, and the place feels more secure.

Keith installed a new lockable mailbox and security flyscreen door for us. Easy to deal with and happy with the finished job.

Safehaus fixed our side gate lock, improved the garage security and installed front floodlights. Practical advice and a good result.

Book the security check
Tell us your suburb, property type and what you're worried about: doors, garage, side gate, parcels, holiday travel or general weak points.
We find the gaps
We walk the outside and key access areas of the home, looking for the low-effort entry points most households miss.
You get next steps
A practical list of what to fix first, what can wait, and where a quote or trade referral makes sense.
Before you book.
Is the security check really free? What's the catch?
It's genuinely free — no call-out fee, no obligation. We do it because if you later decide to upgrade something, you might ask us to quote it. If you don't, you still walk away knowing exactly where your home is weak. No catch.
What do I actually get from the visit?
A walk of your home's weak points the way an intruder would see them, clear recommendations on what to close first, and — where it helps — a quote for simple physical upgrades. Even if you do nothing else, you'll know exactly where you're exposed.
How long does it take, and do I need to be home?
About 15 minutes. It helps if you're home so we can check gates, the garage and any spots you're worried about, but a lot of the assessment is done from the outside. Tell us your situation when you book and we'll work around it.
If I decide to do some work, what will it cost?
That's entirely up to you — many of the fixes we find are simple and free to do yourself. Anything we'd quote, like security screens, gates, lighting or boxes, is priced up front so there are no surprises, and you're never obligated to go ahead. Standard work is simply paid on completion; made-to-order items are confirmed with a 50% deposit, with the balance due when the job's done.
Can I lock my electricity meter box in Victoria?
Yes — with the right lock. Victoria's five electricity distributors approve Victorian Power Industry (VPI) keyed locks: they open with your key and the distributor's master key, so meter readers and authorised crews are never locked out. An ordinary padlock isn't suitable — utilities can't open it. It matters more than it sounds: an unlocked meter box lets anyone cut power to your alarm, cameras and lights from outside the house. We supply and install the VPI-keyed clasp and access cylinder for $325 with any visit, or $395 standalone.
Who's coming into my home — can I trust them?
Every visit is done by Keith personally — police-checked, Public Liability insured, and local to the area. You deal with one person start to finish, not a rotating crew, and you get a straight read on where your home is weak with no pressure.
Do you do the work, or just tell me what to fix?
Both, where it makes sense. Simple fixes we'll list for free so you can do them yourself. Screens, gates, spikes and parcel boxes we can quote and arrange directly. And for specialist work, we partner with trusted local businesses — security door and screen manufacturers, licensed electricians for hardwired lighting, locksmiths, and landscapers — so the right people handle every job, through one point of contact.
Can I book it for my parents, a rental, or while I'm away?
Yes. Plenty of our security checks are booked by adult children for elderly parents, by landlords for rental properties, or by people heading off on holiday. Just give us the address and let us know who to coordinate with. For parents' homes we can also fit a key safe, so family or carers can always get in.
