We make your home the one they skip.
Most homes don't need more subscriptions, apps or complicated tech — they need the obvious gaps closed: a weak side gate, an exposed garage, a dark side path, an unlocked mailbox or meter box, parcels left visible from the street, or windows that are easy to test. We close them properly — so the easy way in stops being easy.
Open for air. Closed to strangers.
Doors and windows are the two easiest ways in. We fit surface-mounted locks and bolts — patio bolts for sliding doors, keyed locks and lockable winders for windows — so everything still opens for air, but nothing slides or lifts for a stranger. Deadbolts and keyed cylinders go to a licensed locksmith, who quotes and invoices you directly.
The quiet way in, closed.
The garage is the quiet route into most homes — and its hardware is usually the weakest on the property. We upgrade the garage door hardware and secure the internal door so the whole route is properly locked up, with the emergency release always usable from inside.
Nobody slips down the side.
The side gate is the quietest way to your back door, out of sight of the street. Keyed latches, drop bolts — or keyless code locks for family and trades — so no one wanders down unnoticed.
Not worth the climb.
A low fence is an invitation. We raise it or top it with anti-climb deterrents — hard to get over, easy to walk past. Custom timber extensions too, matched to the fence you’ve already got.
Nowhere dark to stand.
Nothing sends someone off faster than being lit up. Hardwired sensor floodlights over dark paths, driveways and blind spots — fitted by a licensed electrician, who quotes and invoices you directly.
Your tools stop being their tools.
Tools, bikes and ladders left exposed get stolen — or used against you. Heavy-duty steel tool sheds, supplied and installed, sized for side paths and backyards.
Your identity, off the street.
Your mailbox is your identity. Lockable mail and parcel boxes keep bank letters, new cards and deliveries out of reach — and off the street.
Now somebody’s watching: you.
Most break-ins happen when nobody’s watching. We supply camera systems and can put you onto an installer — and we’ll tell you honestly whether cameras will actually help before you spend a cent.

The switch they can’t flick.
One flick of the main switch kills your alarm, cameras and sensor lights — and on most homes, the meter box sits unlocked on an outside wall, reachable from the street. We lock it, with your power company never locked out.

Your car stops being the easy one.
While we’re in your driveway, we can sort the other soft target — your car. Keyless and OBD-port theft is rife across Melbourne, and the physical deterrents that stop it are quick to fit. Just ask on the day.

For what no insurer can replace.
Passports, deeds, jewellery, backup drives — the things you can’t replace. We supply residential fireproof safes and lockboxes, delivered where you want them, so what matters most survives both the burglar and the worst day.

Looks like a garden. Works like a wall.
Your garden can be a barrier instead of a hiding place. Thorny hedging under accessible windows and along fence lines; boulders and concrete planter boxes where a vehicle could otherwise pull in beside the house. Planted by a landscaper we’ll introduce you to, who quotes and invoices you directly.
The worst part isn’t the cost. It’s not knowing the cost.
So we publish it. Parts, fitting and a 12-month workmanship warranty, in the price you see. Anything made to measure gets one fixed figure in writing before we start — and if a job isn’t worth your money, we’ll say so.
Offenders pick the easiest door on the street.
Most break-ins aren’t sophisticated — they’re opportunistic. Which is why the unglamorous hardware matters more than the gadgets.
31,851 cars stolen in a year
The most since 2001–02 and more than double four years ago — and most of it starts in driveways. Physical deterrents put your car back in the too-hard basket.
Up to 40% taken with cloning tech
Their electronics beat your electronics. A signal-blocking key shield and a locked OBD port beat their electronics.
1,100+ cloning devices seized
Police have taken more than eleven hundred key-mimicking devices off the street since early 2025. The tech is cheap, common, and already in your suburb.
Keys are the target
Offenders enter unlocked homes specifically to take car keys. The lock on your back door is what stops the car in your driveway becoming someone else’s.
The answer isn’t gadgets
It’s the unglamorous hardware, fitted properly — and if your place is already solid, we’ll say so and shake your hand.

The point isn’t the lock. It’s not thinking about it.
Most people don’t want hardware. They want the back door to stop being a thought at 11pm, and the side gate to stop being the thing they keep meaning to sort. The reason it stays on the list is usually that sorting it properly means finding four different trades. So we’ve already found them.
I’m Keith. I’ll be the one who turns up.
I renovate and look after residential property across Melbourne — my own and my family’s. That means years at the unglamorous end of it: the doors that never sat right, the locks that were fitted badly the first time, the side gate everyone forgot about. You learn quickly which parts of a house actually fail, and which ones only look like they might.
Before that I spent my career as an auditor, paid to find the weak points everyone else had already signed off on. It’s a habit that doesn’t switch off — and it’s why every price here is measured, itemised and put in writing before anything happens.
What I kept seeing was people being sold alarms and cameras while the simple physical gaps stayed wide open. A monitored system doesn’t help if the side gate still opens with a shove. So Safehaus does the boring half properly, and never sells more of it than a house actually needs.

Recent jobs, in the owners' words.
A few of the homes we've made harder to break into across Melbourne — with photos of the actual work.
Safehaus installed security/possum fence deterrents at our property. Good communication, neat work, and the place feels more secure.

Keith installed a new lockable mailbox and security flyscreen door for us. Easy to deal with and happy with the finished job.

They installed a new security fly screen front door, looks great!

Three steps, and it’s off your list.
You book — it takes a minute
Pick a time online, or text Keith. Tell us your suburb and what’s been on your mind: the door, the garage, the side gate, the lot.
We come out and price it
Fifteen minutes at your place, no cost and no obligation. You get the options in plain English and one itemised quote in writing before we drive off.
The work gets done
Say yes and most hardware goes on the same visit or the next one. Made-to-measure items — sheds, fencing and the like — are ordered in and fitted on a day that suits you.
Before you book.
Is the doorstep check really free?
Yes — no call-out fee and no obligation. We measure and quote; if you’d like the work done, we book it in. If not, the quote is yours to keep.
What do I actually get from the visit?
An itemised, fixed-price quote for everything you asked about, with prices that match our published list — in writing before we leave. We’ll also give you a straight opinion on what’s worth doing first and what isn’t worth your money at all. Yours to sit on, compare or act on.
How long does it take, and do I need to be home?
About 15 minutes. It helps if you’re home so we can measure gates, the garage and anything else you’d like priced, but much of the measuring can be done from outside. Tell us your situation when you book and we’ll work around it.
If I decide to do some work, what will it cost?
Every quoted item is priced up front — single fixes from $295 fitted, bundles from $495 — so there are no surprises, and you’re never obligated to go ahead. If a job’s simple enough to DIY, we’ll say so. Standard work is paid on completion; made-to-order items are confirmed with a 50% deposit, balance when the job’s done.
Can I lock my electricity meter box in Victoria?
Yes — with the right lock. Victoria's five electricity distributors approve Victorian Power Industry (VPI) keyed locks: they open with your key and the distributor's master key, so meter readers and authorised crews are never locked out. An ordinary padlock isn't suitable — utilities can't open it. It matters more than it sounds: an unlocked meter box lets anyone cut power to your alarm, cameras and lights from outside the house. We supply and install the VPI-keyed clasp and access cylinder — quoted on the visit. On homes built before 1990 we don’t drill the meter board backing panel, as older panels can contain asbestos; we’ll tell you on the day if yours is one of them.
Who’s coming into my home — can I trust them?
Every visit is done by Keith personally — holding a current National Police Check, Public Liability insured, and local. You deal with the owner from the first call to the final invoice: no rotating crew, no commissioned salesman, and never any pressure on the day. Where specialist work is needed we’ll introduce you to a licensed trade, and Keith stays your point of contact throughout.
Do you do the work yourselves?
Most of it, yes. Safehaus does the fencing, the fence toppers and anti-climb work, and all the surface-fixed hardware — patio bolts, window locks, gate hardware, garage and vehicle deterrents, mailboxes and meter box locks. Sheds and anything else made to order are measured on the visit and installed on a booked return date. Regulated work goes to licensed trades — locksmiths for deadbolts and keyed cylinders, licensed electricians for hardwired lighting, landscapers for defensive planting. They contract and invoice you directly for their part, and Keith stays your point of contact throughout.
Can I book it for my parents, a rental, or while I’m away?
Yes. Plenty of our doorstep checks are booked by adult children for elderly parents, by landlords for rentals, or by people heading off on holiday. Give us the address and who to coordinate with — and please make sure the owner or occupier knows we’re coming. For parents’ homes we can also fit a key safe, so family or carers can always get in.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. Safehaus warrants its own workmanship for 12 months from completion — if something we’ve installed isn’t right, email hello@safehaus.com.au and we’ll assess it and put it right where covered. Manufacturer warranties on supplied products are passed on to you with the paperwork. This warranty is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded. Full terms are on our Terms of Service page.
